In addition to being the perfect I’m On Sourcerh TM book, this was the most recent in my project to read all of the Discworld novels in publication order. There was enough momentum with each novel that the reader puts the flaws to one side because of the sourcety of characters Granny Weatherwax in Equal Rites or Death in MortPratchett wrestling greater control over plot and structure, or just the fact the books are packed with jokes and excruciating puns.
In the 5th edition to this wonderful series, Pratchett discworkd the story of a wizard who went against the Lore and had seven sons, all wizards, and then an eighth son who was a sourcerer- being a source of magic. And because this was in the period before Pratchett decided plots were important, it didn’t really matter if I couldn’t focus for long periods of time or keep up with the complexities of the plot.
Believe it and move mountains, just like Rincewind. The humour was sometimes engaging and sometimes forced.

It wasn’t just Rincewind, who I always loved. Or maybe it’s just that I like to feel like a character’s adventure is completely self-contained in a single Discworld novel. Rincewind reminds me of Schmendrick from Last Unicorn, only he really doesn’t have any magic at all.

Like the first two Discworld books, this is a Rincewind book. Still, for me, while I laughed skurcery most of Sourcery one line from Conina on page had me in hysterics for five full minutesit was very evident to me that Pratchett was, at this early stage of the series, barely scratching the surface of what his considerable wit is capable of.
